project description
The NASA Robotics Mining Competition is an annual competition that challenges university level students to design, build and test an autonomous or tele-robotic robot to traverse, mine and deposit a minimum of ten kilograms of lunar simulant within a ten minute time constraint. Students are responsible for all aspects of the project, including but not limited to: financials, social media, all technical designs, manufacturing and outreach events. Annually, there are over 50 universities that compete for the top prize.
responsibilities
founder & president & project manager (previous: lead telematics engineer)
- Founder of the Lunar Knights Robotics Mining Team at University of Central Florida
- Responsible for the structure of the team including determination of Executive Board and Subsystems
- Responsible for all paperwork to develop the Lunar Knights team into a Registered Student Organization at UCF
- Oversee all designs of the robot
- Oversee all financials of the team
- Oversee technical team and marketing team
- Preside over all technical meetings and call all meetings to order
- Represent the Lunar Knights team to potential sponsors
- Liasion between the team and NASA contacts and Faculty Advisors
- Development of project timeline
- All technical writing including documents and presentations
